    Why I think it’s important: This book saved my life, with its ideas on how we interact with the world (phenomenology) and most importantly how we see death as a mode of interpreting the world. In Being and Time, the book is set up into two central sections or divisions: Development of the thinking self, and the development of thinking self on one’s finitude.     The Apology, Crito, and Phaedo

    Why I think it’s important: Today ¬†is the day that Socrates was condemned to death by the Athenian courts, in arguing against the sophist or lawyers, and those who are in power that they are wrong. With accounts giving by Plato in the three Platonic Dialogues: Apology, Crito, and Phaedo. Socrates was my first real teacher, indirectly through the books or what Plato calls “imitations” and shadows, that show me the light of the philosophical world.
